abstract={<em>The use of cultural heritage as a contribution of tourism to the developement of art cities</em> - The author examines the ways in which cultural heritage is used in the art cities. The evidence from research work on the characteristics of visitors of four museums of Rome are shown. Two types emerge: the mass tourist "with a collective look" and the self-directed "romantic" tourist.
