Development, person, reciprocity. The local exchange non-monetary systems: the case of Sintral in Ecuador - Persistent inequalities produced by globalization and the increasing exclusion of millions of people from formal economies have triggered the development of new strategies and instruments, especially in the Global South. Among the experiences that contributed to broaden the horizon of alternative forms of development based on participation, solidarity and reciprocity we can quote Non-Monetary Systems of Local Exchange. Sintral is a meaningful example of this; it was developed in Equador, and it is a local transaction system that allows the exchange of goods and services without using money.

Key words: globalization, development, money, reciprocity.
