The authors of this paper are interested in research on "enterprise-families" and their relational systems. Some typical situations are described. The authors establish some explanatory strategies in order to assess the critical points they meet most fre- quently in working with such families: interpersonal and role conflicts, discordances in boundary-setting, and poor interaction of family subsystems. Some case are presented in order to illustrate family life cycle, differentiation processes, generational transitions, and intergenerational ties. Family myths, loyalties, and duties across generations are discussed. The work of systemic-relational therapist is investigated. Moreover, the authors dwell upon what abilities are needed in handling psychological and psychopathological problems sometimes arising in family enterprises. In their opinion, attempts to make family ties-business interplay better could prevent several difficultto- treat diseases possibly brought about by symmetrical escalation or exceedingly rigid relationships between business and affective needs in the family.
Keywords: Enterprise-family system, life cycle, differentiation, succession process, relational analysis, systemic consultant.
