The reasons why it is difficult to find good quality information on psychology and psychotherapy in the mass media are discussed. Newspapers, popular magazines and TV programs too often disseminate information on psychotherapy that is of low quality, incorrect, or only aiming at attracting interest at any cost. As examples, two articles published in two Italian monthly popular magazines are presented and critically discussed on the basis of the evidence published in the scientific literature.
