Aim of the work is to investigate land use variations in Franciacorta region. This territory, well known thanks to its docg wine production, presents a high agricultural and environmental awareness. Nevertheless, this area is affected by relevant urban expansions with consequent land consumption. Analysis considers 20 urban plans at municipality scale. It was studied, first, demographic growth proposed by each plan and, then, land consumptions derived from new urbanization areas, useful to host those inhabitants expected by demographic hypothesis. This research shows a fragmented and varied mosaic of urban plans, also caused by the ambiguity of related laws and over local plans (regional and provincial ones).
