The contribution describes the reasons why the space of services, specifically of schools, can be a trigger for the urban regeneration of contexts in social transition, with a focus on three cases in southern Sardinia. The school is thought as an urban space, a polarity with a larger scale reverberation in the territory. The pedagogical role extended to the context can trigger a process of imagination of the city that involves the inhabitants, including the youngest.
