Within the background of an updated interest by the psychoanalytic milieu about spirituality and religion, the author examines three clinical situations: a psychiatric treatment, a dynamic psychotherapy and a classical psychoanalysis. In such cases faith problems of undeniable psychological significance are emerging. To deepen its meaning and entailments, the possible vicissitudes of internal structures of the individual patients and the specific countertransference responses of the agnostic therapist are analysed.

Keywords: religious faith, agnostic therapist, psychotic disorders, phenomenology, psychoanalysis, countertransference.
