Fifty years after the publication of the first edition of Lefebvre Le droit à la ville, does it still make sense to speak of "right to the city"? Which city should we refer to nowadays? What categories of people are excluded from this right? And also, in what terms does urban sociology pose these questions? In this essay we try, at least partially, to answer these questions, starting with the main core of Lefebvre’s arguments, and then focusing on the most recent debate, by limiting it especially to some important scholars who have recently dealt with the topic, such as Don Mitchell e Peter Marcuse.
Keywords: The right to the city; Henri Lefebvre, urban change, urban sociology, new protagonists, city.
