As often stated by Bourdieu, the foundation of a general theory of fields requires an analysis of different social regions. The paper reconstructs the implicit logical/epistemological model of construction/applicability of the Bourdesian theory of fields in the light of the main interpretations available in literature (Fabiani, Lahire, Pinto, Servais). Departing from Bourdieu’s analysis of the inductive process as well as of the role of analogy and "variation réglé", the paper evidences in the logical system an analytical and a computational phase, thereby stressing its hermeneutic and generative potential for the description of social phenomena.
