The article offers a short presentation of the gender inequality in various areas and highlights how this aspect is also connected with violence against women, as well as with the challenges that women face for occupying high positions. Specifically, with the attempt to explore, according to a transformative perspective, the characteristics of the female leadership within centers/associations that provide support to women victims of violence, a qualitative research was carried out, through semi-structured interviews addressed to six managers of some anti-violence centers/ associations of Lombardy and Veneto. Findings showed the traits of the transformative value of the leadership experience for the participants, and offered suggestions for reflection on reconsidering the character of female leadership.
