The article suggests a re-reading of two experiences, which can be traced back to the theoretical-methodological frame of action-research-intervention, conducted in the Health Local Unit of Biella. The operating backgrounds concerning both projects are related to the development and enhancement of a Community of Practice. A critical reflection on the role that can be attributed to an Education Unit is developed. Furthermore some opportunities are examined as well as the critical points and the required competences, the attitudes and characteristics of the organisational culture considered, which need more attention and engagement by the professionals intended to work on the challenges and aspects which are all linked to both the two intervention methodologies as well as to the same problem of taking care of the communities of practice in health organisations.
