A balance is outlined after ten years from the promulgation in France of the law concerning the prevention and repression of sexual crimes and the protection of minors of ten years. In this law was introduced the court ordered treatment for perpetretors of sexual violence. After the description of the main theoretical references from Frenchspeaking countries, the author discusses some peculiar aspects of the treatment of perpetretors of sexual violence, stressing the problems concerning the application of court ordered treatment provided for by the law of 1998.
