The article, after identifying and describing the changes in the 5th edition of DSM regarding the classification of sexual disorders, it examines the treatment of sexual dysfunctions from a biopsychosocial prospective. In specific, the contribution is concentrated towards the treatment of those dysfunctions where the etiologic component of trauma are prelevant and where the integration of sexual therapy and "bottom-up" techniques are favored such as Sensorimotor and EMDR. According to the Authors, this clinical approach is supported by the evidence of an association between somatoform dissociative disorders and some forms of sexual dysfunction.
