This paper aims to briefly analyze the institute of the "rent to buy" in the light of the major doctrinal trends and of the first court rulings emerged after its legislative regulation. As well as on general examination of the structural aspects of the contract and the related rules. It focused in particular on the characteristics of the consideration that is certainly among the most innovative aspects that characterize this new figure in respect to traditional institutions
