In order to stop the HIV epidemic, and considering all the variables involved, the WHO has developed a health policy aimed at giving almost 90% of people the HIV test, and treating at least the 90% of positive individuals through ARTs, to prevent the spread of infection in almost 90% of treated patients, using TasP (Treatment as Prevention) as the main course of action. This model also needs to be implemented in Italy with the same purpose, targeting particularly the group of men who have sex with men (MSM), highlighting the relevance of the psychological intervention through different steps. Finally, data provided in literature will be examined explaining the HIV prevalence among MSM in Italy and the Italian MSM community size, pointing out some inconsistencies.
