The paper analyses the birth of Forza Italia, as a phenomenon absolutely new and unrepeatable. In 1994, Forza Italia was, by all means, the party of television, in that it was able to turn in its favour the momentary autonomy from the political system that television was enjoying immediately after Tangentopoli. The author argues that, ten years later, this view has radically changed and not much of the original party of television is left. Notwithstanding the fact that Berlusconi still makes extensive use of propaganda, Forza Italia political logic is by now distinct and divergent from television logic.
