The Farnesina’s Academy: an experiment of totalitarian pedagogy in Fascist Italy (1927-1943) (by Alessio Ponzio) - ABSTRACT: The Academy of the Foro Mussolini was the most important centre for the training of the political leaders and physical instructors of the Opera Nazionale Balilla and of the Gioventù Italiana del Littorio. The aim of the article, which synthesizes the most relevant aspects of Author’s PhD dissertation, is not only to recall the history of the Academy from the very beginning till 1943, but above all to show the relevance of this institution. The regime wanted to create a new Italian and the Farnesina played a central role in order to achieve this aim. It was the diamond point of the pedagogical fascist project.
