The study analyses the spillovers effects within the Prosciutto di Parma district and the relations between the products involved, whether or not Pdo. There are two distinct networks within the Prosciutto di Parma district: one related to Pdo ham, the other to "Parma type" ham. This latter network includes actors applying a production process similar to the former while not complying with the requirements set in the Pdocode of practice. The paper shows the relations within and between the two networks, illustrating the geographical and reputational spillovers that the "Parma type" ham producers enjoy on the strength of the Prosciutto di Parma Pdo qualification process and reputation.
