The discussion revolves around the book Dal petrolio all’energia. Erg 1938-2008, edited by Paride Rugafiori and Ferdinando Fasce, that arises from a continuing and profitable collaboration between a wide group of scholars, historians but not only, and the Genoabased Edoardo Garrone Foundation. The latter promoted and funded both the research and the book in the name of the company’s founder. The debate involves two discussants: M. Elisabetta Tonizzi and Salvatore Adorno. They tackle the above-mentioned book from different but coherent points of view, so mirroring its multidisciplinary approach. Tonizzi presents a broad critical review of Erg’s activities from a small oil refinery to the current multi-energy Group. Adorno is focused on theirs impact on Southern Italy’s economy.
