The European Community guidelines on coexistence allow the operators - on the ground of voluntary agreements - to create geographic areas without genetically modified crops or, more in general, non-transgenic supply chains. This is the starting point for the idea of Gmo free districts whose realization, allowing to create (and maintain in the regional landscape) a reality built on legitimate rules other than those generally applying to the agro-food sector, can achieve different results, including the one to make the "production" obtained within such districts acquire an "added value". In order to be successful, territorial diversity - conceived this way - needs to be achieved through appropriate policies planned and shared by public bodies institutionally competent to judge.
