At the turn of twentieth century several authors discussed Normative Sciences (Logic, Ethics and Aesthetics). Many of them shared the idea that normativity can be explained in terms of finality, but they understood the latter in different ways. The article compares Frege’s and Husserl’s Platonist view with Peirce’s and Ramsey’s pragmatist approach. The article stresses the importance of Ramsey’s view, because it accounts for Normative Sciences in a pragmatist and naturalist framework without giving up their critical role.
