The dimensions of learning in the knowledge society: the mirrors game. The essay endeavours to give life to many of dimensions within the concept of learning in knowledge society, in relation to the themes of lifelong learning. Such other themes include those relative to the innovation of knowledge and formation models that are linked to new technologies and the ever more meaningful role that the individual plays in virtual reality. The "net- work" is a pivotal concept in the article, adopted as an essential metaphor, capable of outlining each individual life in knowledge society. The term "network" makes reference, in this way and at the same time, to many of the extremely meaningful concepts in contemporary society and in the life of the individual. The network appoints to time itself; knowledge, the city, society, the internet, navigation between real words and virtually designed worlds, new technologies, as much as in the making as in cinema, as much as in literature as in the discipline of constructivism. The article comes to a close by briefly revisiting the culture of the Renaissance, a precursor to a spirit within which science, knowledge and technique were strongly bound. The experimentation that took place in the Renaissance, in the artisan’s workshop, has become both a point of departure and a connecting tie between different movements within the fields of knowledge and art, between scientific research and technical exploration.
Keywords: Knowledge, network, city, cyberspace, lifelong and lifewide learning, culture of the Renaissance
