In this article the Authors introduce preliminary results concerning 20 patients with diagnosis of post-partum Depression. Recently the UOS of Mental Hygiene of Affective Relationships and post-partum of University of Rome Policlinico Umberto I, started a research on Affective Disorders during puerperium. Collected data actually show the prevalence of cluster B Personality Disorders. We observe post-partum Depression as a difficulty in the separation-individuation process between mother and child, experience which recall an indifferenziation of the partners from their family of origin. Both for the mother and for the couple, the birth of the child works as an echo of previous separations, and therefore is experienced as source of anguish and danger.
Keywords: Post-partum depression, early pathological risk, couple psychodynamic, separation individuation process
