The paper assumes the risk to explore and reflect on the major functional and symbolic constructs with which human beings organize their settlements: center, limit, country. Try to answer, in future perspective, to the threat of a entropy in the structure and in the form of the contemporaney town. In the paper not a solution is proposed, but the attention the area’s development in the light of the innovations and of the major changes taking place on the basis of a coordinated financial and organizational efforts and taking into account of the new Mediterranean dimension.
