Starting from the analysis and a first classification of suburbs in Puglia Region, the paper investigates the role that urban design plays in different territorial contexts affected by marginality, the framework of objectives addressing the way it is and can be conceived and used, the potential capacity to affect the quality of built space, to answer to questions from the local community or to instances from individuals or families.
