The author summarizes, also with extensive quotations, some of the fundamental tenets of Carl Gustav Jung’s analytic psychology, emphasizing the differences with Freud’s psychoanalysis and its actuality for contemporary psychiatry and psychotherapy. Based on several analogies, the author points out clear parallelisms between Jung’s psychotherapeutic approach and some characteristics that are peculiar to contemporary psychodynamic therapy.
