The authors present research evaluating the effectiveness of time-limited group analytic therapy for outpatients with eating disorders (ED) who were treated at a public university hospital (AUSL in Parma, Eating Disorders Program Service). By means of quantitative evaluation, the study measured some variables occurring at different times. Personal matters were considered (VGF, symptoms, perceived self efficacy, life quality) as well as relational issues (Carta di rete: i.e. personal social network map) and questions related to the group itself (group climate questionnaire and experience satisfaction). The authors set themselves the goal to test how many significant changes a time-limited (6+6 months) group analytic therapy may cause in the above-mentioned issues for each ED group. According to the results, the clearest changes occur in Bulimic patients, thus confirming the previous hypothesis that more "flexible" personality structures are related to Bulimia, compared to Anorexia and BED. Time-limited (6+6 months) group therapy does not appear to be the best suited for chronic ED patients, as it allows for symptom remission or symptom recovery but does not last enough to produce permanent inner changes in personalities.
