This contribution is an excerpt of professor Marselli talk at the the 2nd of April 2009 Forum. The author, focusing on labour policies, offers an interpretation of the problems of sustainability by analyzing the major issues in the current work world and the latest European policies to sustain the concept of employability. It is exposed the need to change the current process of education and training, since it is increasingly important to provide specific expertise and professional skills, and crucial is to make sure that whoever comes out of the training system has general and easily conveyable competences.
