In this paper the author proposes some theoretical and methodological points of the relational and intersubjective approach, and their application to the couple treatment. What happen in the sessions is observed in its formational aspects in the here and now, as well as actualisation of traumatic events suffered by the partners. The emerging affects can be understood more clearly and treated like emerging emotional states reactivated by the relationship which is co-created by the components of the triadic relationship, with the aim of increasing the transformative potential. A confrontation between a most traditional psychoanalytic approach to the couple therapy, the object relations, and an approach inspired of relational and intersubjective psychoanalysis will be provided.
