The Author, using some clinical vignettes, discusses the subject of the psychoanalyst’s anxieties in respect to transference and countertransference. Assuming that countertransference is an important source of anguish, he wonders whether the analyst does not feel a further anxiety caused by a transference operated on the patient as well as by the saturation of his own psychic apparatus.
