In the following essay I will try to read Lucia Joyce’s enigmatic and creative clairvoyance. I will analyze Jungian and Lacanian interpretations concerning the disorder that was attributed to Lucia Joyce: Hebephrenic or Catatonic Schizophrenia. My point is that - as usually happen in many circumstances about women - hysteria was turned in Schizophrenia by the Psychiatric practices of seclusion. I will stress the intense Joyce’s resistance to accept Lucia hospitalization in Asylum because he was convinced that Lucia was a clairvoyant.
