The paper is basically divided into three parts. The first part deal with the reasons why it is now important to put the relationship between land and labor back at the center of analysis of contemporary capitalism and some key features of the latter are quickly outlined. In the second part, some of the main issues at stake in the analysis of the relationship between land and labor are introduced and it is briefly presented the way they are handled in the different papers collected into the current issue of the journal. Finally, it is shortly explored the way the different aspects of the relationship between land and labor call it into question the issues of labor’s agency, in terms of forms of (social, political, trade union) representation and counter-movement, of "the capacity to aspire" of the individuals and of "cognitive justice".
