The article proposes a reflection on trust from a temporal point of view. Through clinical cases based on individual psychotherapy in both private practice and public settings, the author takes into account the processes through which the experience of trust evolves in a therapeutic relationship. Time is considered not only in the process of psychotherapeutic treatment (session time, treatment time, interruption time, unconscious time), but also as an essential element which structures and consolidates the process of birth, evolution and stabilization of trust. In addition, some hypotheses are presented on the connection between trust, transference relationship and rhythm of therapy. The article concludes with a few references to the relationship between trust, time, with particular stress on the writing of clinical data, meant as the creation of a new item connecting the patient and the therapist. Thus, the writing of clinical data requires a further act of trust in the analytic process, not only at the moment of the session but also in the time and situations that precede and follow the meeting with the patient.
