Although the importance of a "good practice" of the parental functions in case of separation and divorce is supported by clinical evidence, very little support is provided by empirical studies, specially if the parental function is considered not only from an individual perspective, but also from a relational perspective. Based on the hypothesis that the Technical Consultation (TC) might improve the parental function, the present study investigates the effectiveness and the value of TC interventions in enhancing and supporting shared parenthood. A semi-structured interview specifically developed for the current research was administered to 16 parents after a TC intervention. The interviews were audio-taped and then analyzed using the software for textual analysis T-LAB. The current study reports the findings of the analyses conducted on the whole body text on the basis of the variable "question". These findings suggest the TC facilitates changes on a personal level and on an interpersonal- relational level as well. In particular, the consultant seems to have the role of "helmsman", although the participants’ position of commitment and trust remains very important.
Keywords: TC, shared parenthood, textual analysis, change.
