In our founding text (Perls, Hefferline, Goodman, 1951) the concept of "contact" considers experience from a perspective centered on the individual rather than on a relationship. Today, we need a model that, while remaining consistent with the epistemological assumptions of Gestalt therapy, allows us to take into account the reciprocity of the exchange that occurs between patient and therapist. In the innovative contributions of Gordon Wheeler and Margherita Spagnuolo Lobb, the author identifies the conditions of a relational gestalt approach, which would allow detailed analysis of how patient and therapist create together the experience of their meeting moment by moment

Keywords: Contact, relationship, structured background, contact function, domain, relational field.
