This essay starts out by analysing the principle of impartiality in the organisation and the activities of the organs of public administration, states that impartial decisionmaking is impossible and explores the principle by referring to the decision-making processes in question. Focusing attention on the information that can be acquired within these decision-making processes, the essay then comments briefly on a possible function of truth attributable to administrative proceedings, as introduced and regulated in the Italy by Law N° 241 in 1990.
