In order to understand adolescents and his/her way to be in the world, it is necessary to start from the body, considered as a field of experience which coincides with the presence of the subject itself. What happens at the body level is not only referred to physical events, but also to the meaning that they have for the person who experiences them. Huge and rapid body changes impose themselves on the adolescents as complex processes about selfrecognition, the sense of self and of her/his own identity. The author presents the main sufferings and uneasiness which can emerge in this fascinating path to the knowledge of oneself, to awareness and integration of sensations, emotions, thoughts, relations and contacts with the others.

Keywords: Adolescence, presence, experience, body, body-mind olism, self-recognition, sense of self, change.
