The family, a social group with a history and creating history (Scabini, 1985), has been involved in various transformations in its structure and function. Among the new family types that are objects of research in the psycho-social field, there is the interracial couple, which is the result of demographic and economic factors that, in turn, require social adjustments and ad hoc legislation. The analysis of the interracial couple’s characteristics allowsus to explore whether the integration of different cultural experiences in terms of couple, family and social relationships is possible (Scabini, Regalia e Giuliani, 2007). We also explore whether this type of couple shows the deepest level of contact between different cultures and identities which now seem to be the basis of modern society.
Keywords: Migration, interracial couple, family, biculturality, child protection, life span.
