For Mussolini and his collaborators corporatism was to be the essence of the authentically "revolutionary" fascist "third way" between capitalism and socialism. Much has been written about the great diffusion of fascist and corporatist ideas in Europe between the two world wars, but little is known about their circulation in Latin America. This paper, discussing the current state of research, examines the influence of fascism on the development of Brazilian authoritarian corporatism, which was one of the pillars of the so-called "Vargas era" between the "Revolution of 1930" and the end of the World War II.
