This paper studies the performance of export growth in the provinces with high district intensity. In particular, the analysis deals with the issue of diversification. The goal is to verify through an econometric test where the provinces that change the initial productive structure and that they are more exposed to emerging markets express the highest growth rates. The results are in line with expectations. Also they attest to a greater ability to change for the provinces high district intensity than the rest of the country. In particular, the effect of the reduction of the initial specialization prevalent once controlled a number of factors is predominant. Also, the size impacts positively on exports. The influence becomes negative beyond a certain threshold while the endowment of human capital and services do not seem to have a clear role on evolution of exports. Finally, the northern provinces with high district intensity show better performance compared with other provinces.
