The essay focuses on the relationship between safety management and competitiveness. A proactive safety management is convenient from the economic point of view since it influences company’s competitive position, the sales turnover, profitability and internal climate. The work offers theoretical considerations with field examples showing the benefits of investment in health and safety and some of the key conditions to ensure that those benefits can be effectively achieved
