The article introduces the special issue focusing on the process that lead to the exploration of the concept of spatial justice as used to analyze the city of difference. The concept of spatial justice is considered as a possible lens to explore the urban experience of migration and the struggles to define new geographies of belonging in the cities of arrival. The article shows how unexpected uses of the urban space as well as new form of belonging can affirm a situated spatial justice able to question the policies and interventions aimed at anesthetize the presence of the ‘bodies of difference’ in the urban spaces.
