This article deals with the experience of 1977 in Southern Italy. It analyzes such phenomena as the spread of environmental awareness, the revolt of the youth and of the "non-guaranteed" and the power of media in unveiling corruption and crime. Based on a wide and differentiated range of documentary sources, the research drafts an articulated picture, polarized between Naples "the capital" and the marginal Calabria. Awareness is the keyword: the awareness of severe social crisis and new social conflicts in Southern Italy with potential effects on the country as a whole.
