The article aims at analyzing some of the main assumptions and consequences of the migrants’ shipwreck occurred off the coast of the Italian isle of Lampedusa, with tragic results. According to the author, the news and the debates recording these events, especially through mass information, fail to point out the complex political and economic roots from which these "emergency" took origins. In addition, they also show misinformation, especially in relation to the criticism of the legal system in force, including specific responsibilities of the European Union. The work tries to frame the phenomenon in a broader framework, with its various social causes, illustrating the correct law system and tracing various lines of analysis and reflection.
