In this brief note, the author reports on the Capraia Socio-legal Seminars, which have been taking place on this beautiful little Tuscan island since 2005, initially inspired by Professor Valerio Pocar. The founder’s original idea, which has been kept intact ever since, was to give young scholars, in particular PhD students, a chance to express themselves freely, regardless of formal academic roles, and stimulate free, informal reactions from selected audiences, consisting of both young and older experts in sociology of law. The initiative reached its eleventh edition in 2015. A multitude of issues has been tackled and discussed in depth, in a fertile atmosphere, in the course of the last ten years. Most of the reports presented have become fully-fledged research works, contributing substantially to the development of socio-legal studies in Italy
