This article focuses on the issue of parental skills assessment with regard to foreign parents when ordered by the Juvenile Court. It is a complex and scarcely explored matter in Italian literature, not withstanding the fact that there are now numerous cases of parents from other countries brought to the attention of those welfare services whose job it is to take care of problems regarding minors. The discussion is based on the clinical experience done working a survey of the Psychology Program of the Local Health Unit of Romagna, Forlì, in the three years 2008, 2009, 2010 and proposes some hypotheses of ideas potentially useful for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the way to parenting assessment with such people.
Keywords: Evaluation skills, parenting, immigration, culture, ethnicity.
