Among the opponents of slavery of the French Revolution, the figure of Milscent has been neglected for a very long time. The newspaper of which he was editor, Le Créole Patriote (1792-1794), worked as a bridge between the French Revolution and the Haitian Revolution. The author main that Milscent is not a "marginal" figure; on the contrary, he played an essential rule as a mediator between the colonial world and the metropolitan one is essential. Thanks to his mobility and the letter exchanges, the newspaper has the aim to inform the metropolis about the affairs of the Haitian Revolution. Milscent’s contribution to antislavery Movement is fundamental for two main reasons: the first one concerns Milscent as a privileged informant about revolutionary events at the service of the metropolitan public opinion. The second one concerns the practical solutions proposed by Milscent for solving the problem of slavery, going beyond the limits of the theoretical debate.
Keywords: Revolution, Haiti, free people of color, slavery, antislavery thought.
