The aim of this article is analyse how social actors define security. It is focused in the ways used by urban inhabitants in order to build secure spaces; so it investigates why subjects contract security private agencies and enact isolation politics against citizens defined as perilous. The article examines, specifically, the methods used by Santa Ana’s inhabitants, one of the richest neighbourhoods in Bogotá, in order to warranty a quiet live, remote of chaos and fear.
