The author highlights the relevance of community studies in the city today, with attention to the Chicago School. He distinguishes between a socio-cultural and socio-spatial meaning of community, connecting the latter to the Chicagoan approach and highlighting some Robert Sampson and Mario Small’s studies that reflect it. The Author also considers some Italian community studies from Ce.P.Ci.T. (Bologna University) which are strongly inspired to the Chicago School.
