In thepaper, authors estimate how occupational related dimensions - employement or unemployment, job qualification, income - continues to play a crucial role in young generations transition to adulthood, influencing opportunities and constraints of social attainment, in relation to background inequalities. For this purpose, five European countries, including Italy, have been compared in order to asses whether and how social origins inquealities, mediated by educational lattainment and by occupational attainment, affect the completion of transition to adulthood measured as cohabitation and parenthood. Analyeses are based on OECD PIAAC international data, focusing on population aged between 30-39 years (young-adults), in Italy, France, Germany, Poland and Spain.
